Targeted Venture Capital Funds
Economic Innovation is responsible for
the conception and design of the first publicly initiated seed and early stage
venture capital funds in the United States that use private capital markets to
create public value. Often, these private initiatives are originally
seeded by public or civic investment. Some of these models
have twenty-five year track records, some have twenty-year track records, and a
number have been in operation for more than a decade. Following is a range of
venture capital funds which we have helped to design and implement that now have
capital under management in excess of $2
billion.
The National
Association of Seed and Venture Capital Funds represents the professionals essential to the success of these
funds.
The
Alpha Paradigm Fund: The St. Louis Vectis Life Sciences Fund (2003-4)
|
A $60 million unique life
sciences fund of funds designed to create St. Louis as a Biotech hothouse
equal to Boston and the Bay Area. St. Louis currently houses health and
plant science centers that generate research equal to the best in the country,
but currently loses its promising young plan and life science enterprises to
richer growth environments on the two coasts. |
|
The private equity fund is capitalized
by foundations, university endowments and large institutional investors based
on a civic initiative organized by the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth
Association and the St. Louis Plant and Life Sciences Coalition. |
|
$7.5 - 10 million of the Fund will be
invested in seed and very early stage life science companies in greater St. Louis.
|
|
The Fund will have at least two life
science funds managed by proven St. Louis life science fund managers, as well
as nationally recognized funds on both coasts in order to create synergy and
partnership for the St. Louis funds, and spread risk for investors. |
|
The Vectis
Life Science Fund of Funds has over $50 million of its funds committed and is
currently planning its first close. |
